Barbie Cake Problems

My mum was the queen of birthday...I had a party every year as a kid. She would bake her cakes and include us in the process. She has tips that have stayed with me forever.

Recently, I was at a friends place after a big party - this mum was still preparing her 3 year old's birthday cake at 11:30pm until 1:30am when we all went to bed. I manage to share 2 gems of my mother's with her. She was making a barbie cake where the cake is barbie's dress....she asked - what do I put the cake on - I suggested covering her chopping board with foil - easy and stylish.

The second suggestion was after she couldn't find any suitable 'top' for barbie to cover her boobs - she hadn't thought of it. I suggested icing on the top half of her dress - this worked a treat and it all matched beautifully.

I think home grown ideas are great!
